Students Create Book Reviews and PowerPoints
Lydia Grote’s first grade students recently studied persuasive and opinion writing. To put their learning into action, they picked a book that they would like to recommend to someone. Students read their book and created a book review. In the book review, students included information about the book but discussed the importance of not giving the end away so others will want to read. Other information in the book review included: an attention grabber, favorite part, why they liked it and a recommendation. Students then took their book review report and turned it into a PowerPoint presentation. One afternoon, students shared their book review presentation with their parents in the classroom. Students were very excited to show off their hard work!
