Waukee Schools Fill Two Admin Vacancies
(Waukee, Aug. 13, 2012) The Waukee Community School District approved the recommendation to appoint Michelle Lettington as the new Executive Director of Curriculum and Professional Learning and Chris Bergman as the new South Middle School Principal.
These position changes will become effective at the end of the first nine weeks. This is to allow ample time for a smooth transition for staff and students.
Lettington will fill the vacancy left by Sharon Ingebrand who accepted the director of curriculum position with Ankeny Schools. Lettington is the current principal at South Middle School. Waukee Community School District has become an extended home for Lettington. She is a Waukee High School graduate and has worked for the district as an associate, teacher and principal.
“Moving into an executive director position will be another way I can serve our district students, staff and families. I’m excited about collaborating and learning in this new role focused on our mission and vision. I love that we are always improving in Waukee,” Lettington said.
Bergman brings 21 years of teaching experience to her new position as principal of South Middle School. For the last four years she as worked for Waukee Schools in Extended Learning Program (ELP) positions and currently is an ELP teacher and Ambassador Coach at South Middle School.
“My position as an ELP teacher and Ambassador Coach at South Middle School afforded me daily opportunities to experience the love of learning through the eyes and hearts of middle school students. Our shared enthusiasm for seeking challenge and chasing our passions will continue although it will take on a different look. My goal is to remain connected at this level in order to best understand and serve student needs at South Middle School,” Bergman said.
