Shuler P.E. Classes Take on Game of Golf
The Waukee Schools have recently been given golf training equipment by The First Tee of Greater Des Moines to use during elementary physical education classes. Students in grades K-5 are learning various golf swings such as putting, chipping, pitching, and the full swing. They are also learning core values that can be applied to the game of golf, such as honesty, sportsmanship, respect, responsibility and confidence. The golf clubs come in various sizes to accommodate students of all grade levels and the colorful targets offer an exciting reward for a successful swing. For many students, this is the first time they have picked up a golf club and experienced the game of golf, but it is an opportunity for all to enjoy the game while building character at the same time.
