Waukee High School Theatre Presents Legally Blonde: The Musical

Waukee High School theatre is bringing to you, Legally Blonde: The Musical for the 2016-17 school year. The story will follow Elle Woods, played by Marisa Spahn, through her journey as a college sorority girl, to a law school graduate as she defends fitness guru Brooke Wyndham in a murder trial. The musical will bring dancing, singing, mystery, romance, humor and a fun night to all who attend.

“The cast, crew and directors put in countless hours of rehearsal, building, painting, memorizing and planning for three months to put on a fantastic show. It takes a lot of teamwork and we are all excited to perform it!” said Spahn.

The Musical, presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International, is directed by Chelsea Haaland with music by Kathryn Mosiman, choreography by David Becker, technical direction by Alex Snodgrass and pit direction by Joshua Deutmeyer.

“Waukee students are hard workers, and the cast, crew and pit members are no exception,” said Haaland. “They have been working steadily since the first week of February learning music, choreography, lines, blocking, designing and building set pieces and props, organizing costumes, designing makeup and more. If dedication is any indication of quality, it is going to be a great production!”

Showings are set for April 20, 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Waukee High School Auditorium, along with an additional matinee the 22nd at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are both $10 online and at the door, and will become available for purchase after March 27.
