Elementary Boundary Decision Postponed Until January 14

On Monday, December 17, the Board of Education tabled the decision to approve new elementary attendance boundaries. After a discussion, it was decided additional changes to the Board Revised Concept One Map needed to be considered before approval. The board will be asked to approve elementary boundaries at the next Board of Education meeting on January 14.

The board discussion included the following key points:

  • The board asked to create a map for further study. This map will compare revised boundaries and numbers with the following scenarios:
    • Students in Walnut Trace, Meredith Heights, and Calvert Meadows neighborhoods to remain at Walnut Hills Elementary.
  • The board may need to consider moving additional preschool classrooms to Radiant. Currently, there are four classrooms at Woodland Hills, two at Vince Meyer, three at Walnut Hills and two at Maple Grove.

No decisions were made about secondary attendance boundaries. A process and timeline for determining secondary attendance boundaries and feeder systems will be determined in 2019.
