What is the time schedule for taking an AP exam?

For morning tests, which begin at 8:00 am, students need to be present by 7:15 am.  For afternoon tests, which begin at 12:00 pm, students need to be present by 11:30 am.  This is to ensure there is enough time to fill out the testing paperwork and distribute materials.  Tests are between three and four hours long each.

What should students bring?

#2 pencils (mechanical or already sharpened); blue or black ink pens; a watch; a calculator if taking Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, Statistics; and a ruler if taking Physics.

What items are forbidden during testing?

Anything that is not on the acceptable list above is not allowed during testing.  This includes but is not limited to cell phones, iPods, books, paper, food, drink, etc.  If you are questioning an item, see Ms. Kirkland in the Media Center.

If students have two tests in the same day, do they get lunch or should they reschedule?

Students in this situation do not get lunch.  The College Board only allows for late testing without a charge if two tests are scheduled for the exact same time.  This is no accommodation made for morning and afternoon tests scheduled on the same day.

What are acceptable reasons for using the alternative testing dates?

Students with two tests scheduled simultaneously OR three or more tests on the same date can use the alternative testing dates without charge.  If there is a religious holiday or school-related conflict, these must be reported to the AP Coordinator (Mrs. Kirkland).  Other reasons are dependent on an emergency such as a school closing, serious illness, family tragedy, etc.  See Ms. Kirkland in the Media Center if you feel you may fall into one of these categories.

How do students register for the alternative testing date?

Students can complete the alternative registration with Ms. Kirkland in the Media Center.  Those students wishing to register for the alternative dates for any reason other than those approved by the College Board (see above) will incur a $40 fee.
