Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request a Username and Password for PowerSchool?
Each school year our schools make a letter available to new families listing your username and password for each child that can be picked up at the open house. We also set up an account for every student that enters our school system. If for some reason you did not receive this letter or are recently new to the district, you may request an account by going to your child’s school. We encourage all parents/guardians to request an Access ID and Password for each child, create an account, and use it regularly to check on your child’s progress.
** Note: To protect your student’s information and Waukee Community School District, it is our policy that no usernames or passwords will be given over the phone or though e-mail. If you need your username and password to access PowerSchool you must visit your child’s school office in person to request them.
I lost my username and Password. What should I do?
You will need to visit your child’s school and request your password reset or use the Having Trouble Signing in? link on the Portal Home Page.
** Please bring photo identification with you for security purposes.

I cannot get PowerSchool Public page to load on my computer.
Use the link on this page titled PowerSchool Logon. This will direct you to the site.
I still cannot get PowerSchool Public Portal to work.
Make sure you are running at minimum a secure “certified” browser. You may try other browsers, but this is what PowerSchool recommends.
What is a web browser?
A browser is the application your computer uses to access the Internet. There are many available for free to download. Some of these are Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox or Chrome. In addition to a browser, you will need access to the Internet through an internet service provider (ISP).
What is an Internet Service Provider?
An ISP is a way you connect to the Internet. Access can be purchased through local phone companies, cable companies, or satellite services. Please check the yellow pages under Internet. If you do not have access through home, work, or don’t want to purchase, you should visit your local public library to see if computer service is available.
It takes a long time for PowerSchool to load in my web browser. Why?
The speed at which your web browser can display a specific website depends on your ISP, the site you visit, the time of day, your geographic region, and a host of other variables. A particular site can have too many people trying to reach it at the same time. Your ISP may not have enough phone lines to accommodate large numbers of users logging in at the same time. This is also true for the neighborhood from which you access the Internet. Any of these factors can prevent you from accessing a site in a speedy manner. When a website takes too long to display, click Stop. This stops the web browser from trying to access the site. At that point, you can try again, click Back, Click Home or try later.
What is the best way to maneuver through PowerSchool?
There are a couple of ways that you can maneuver from one page to another. You can use the back arrow at the top left side of the page. You can always click on the logo in the upper left that will take you back to the first page – the summary of attendance and grades for your son or daughter. The third way is to click on an icon on the left side of the page, under your child’s name.
Can I print what I see?
In the upper right of most pages in the blue bar you will see a Print Page icon that will allow you to print the page you are viewing.
Why do I need to logout of PowerSchool?
Logging out is the only to ensure no other users can access the information you have securely logged in to view. Please make sure you Logout when you are finished with the viewing and communicating.
Why is it that sometimes what I see isn’t accurate?
The Waukee Community Schools recognizes that what you will see is not always perfect or accurate. We are working with our faculty to achieve consistency. Please be patient as we are working to make this experience the best possible. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail your child’s teacher or contact Waukee PowerSchool
How do I contact a teacher through PowerSchool?
If you want to send a message to your child’s teacher, log in to PowerSchool and locate the teacher. Click on that instructor’s name and a new e-mail message should be set up via your browser.
If you have questions, please contact Waukee PowerSchool
