Mock Trial Qualifies for State Tournament
Congratulations to the Waukee High School Mock Trial team for beating Johnston High School March 1 in Regional Finals at Vets Auditorium. Led by senior Amanda Jackson in a grueling 2-day tournament, the team now advances to State for only the second time in school history. Judges singled out Joel Berner and Mike Sylvester as Outstanding Attorneys and Cait Spackman and Rachel Muse as Outstanding Witnesses.
Waukee competed against 27 other teams in the Des Moines Regional Finals and received one of seven regional slots to the state tournament.
Mock trial is designed to introduce students to our legal system by providing a challenging, academic competition. The program offers students an opportunity for personal growth and achievement, emphasizing the importance of research, presentation, and teamwork.
State competition begins March 28.
