Waukee Elementary Student Council will be raising money during the week of April 2 – 6 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The campaign is called Pennies for Patients. Classrooms at Waukee Elementary each have small boxes for students to put their donations in. The classrooms are engaging in a bit of friendly competition, as the classroom with the highest total donations will win a pizza party.
Our school has been given an honored hero named Natalie. Natalie is ten years old and she was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in 2007. She likes riding her bike fast, tetherball, playing her DSI and taking pictures. Natalie hopes to grow up and become a nurse, doctor, or surgeon one day. Her encouraging words are, “No matter how hard chemo is, fight hard like a girl and kiss cancer goodbye!”
