2012-13 District Student Achievement Goals
The Waukee Board of Education voted at the June 11 meeting to approve new district-wide student achievement improvement goals for the 2012-13 school year.
The district goals for the upcoming school year are:
- 1. Increase the percentage of 7th grade students scoring proficient or above on the Iowa Assessments Mathematics.
- 2. Increase the percentage of 9th grade students scoring proficient or above on the Iowa Assessments Reading.
- 3. Increase the percentage of 6th grade students scoring proficient or above on the Iowa Assessments Reading.
The board is required to annually establish student achievement improvement goals in conjunction with recommendations from the board appointed School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC).
The purpose of this board approved committee is to seek feedback from the parents and community members as well as to share information. Each building is represented by parents, teachers and administrators.
SIAC met on four separate occasions this past school year: September, December, April and May. The meeting agendas included several items: updates from Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Wilkerson, update from the District Diversity Committee, strategic plan, bullying and harassment policy and report, a review of 2011-12 annual improvement goals and establishment of annual improvement goals to recommend to the school board for the 2012-13 school year.
