Students in Mrs. Jackie Inbody’s fifth grade class have enjoyed exploring the world of geometry. One of the highlights of this unit is the use of the different mathematical instruments, specifically the protractor and compass. In the lessons to come, the fifth graders will be learning about the different properties of polygons, regular tessellations, and angles of polygons. This unit will conclude with a geometry scavenger hunt. Students will take pictures of various geometrical shapes in and around the school. These pictures will be printed off, shapes and angles highlighted, and placed in a book that will be on display during conferences.
Brookview third graders had the opportunity to learn about the Executive Branch of the Iowa government through a Skype with Governor Terry Brandstad on Thursday, October 18. The students then applied their writing and communication skills by writing about leadership.
