Kindergarten Class Meet Author Marsha Diane Arnold

Kelly White’s kindergarten class used Skype to meet author, Marsha Diane Arnold on Friday, September 28. Before meeting her, students enjoyed two of her books, The Pumpkin Runner and The Roar of a Snore.

During their Skype chat, Arnold showed students her office where she writes her stories. Students were able to look through her window and see the California wildlife she is surrounded by.  Is this view of the great outdoors that has been the inspiration of many of her stories. Students listened eagerly as Arnold read a portion of The Pumpkin Runner to our class. When she finished, students had the opportunity to answer questions about the book. Arnold also talked about upcoming projects she’s working on and some of her books we haven’t read yet.

When the Skype chat ended, many students were inspired to be authors just like Arnold, so the class wrote their own version of Roar of a Snore during writing time!
