Final Day for Bookfair
Today is the last day for the Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to all of the volunteers and to those that have visited with your children. Getting great books into the hands of kids is our goal and we couldn’t do it without all of you.
As a reminder, our hours for today, Thursday, will be 1-8 p.m. The students will have an opportunity to come and shop during the day today from 1-3 p.m.. Have your child let his/her teacher know if they have brought money for this and their teacher will send them to the fair during their allotted time. If you were unable to visit the book fair but still would like to purchase books and have Walnut Hills get credit, you may visit our online fair at www.scholastic.com/fair . The orders will shop directly to school for free and we will deliver them to your child’s classroom.
We continue to hold a loose change contest at school between the classrooms. The children may bring in extra coins from home to add to their classroom box. The contest will be running through November 20. The top grade collecting the most change will earn a “Fun Day” at lunch, being able to choose seating and listening to music! The top classroom collecting the most change will earn $25 in books for their classroom. All change collected will benefit Walnut Hills Elementary School. We will be using it towards the purchase of books for a family reading event to be held at school in January. In addition, Scholastic Bookfairs will donate a book for every dollar raised to Kids in Need Foundation and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.
Again, thank you to everyone for your support of literacy at Walnut Hills Elementary!
