The Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church is conducting a peace essay contest and will present three $500 scholarships. The contest is open to students who are high school juniors or seniors. Students need not be members of a United Methodist Church or any other religious body. The topic for this year’s contest is: “The Best Response For Our Government When It Sees Human Rights Violations Taking Place In a Foreign Country”. Essays must be less than 1,000 words and set to Paul Linn by e-mail email@example.com before March 22, 2013. Also include a brief summary of activities that you have participated in your school or community including efforts for social justice.
