8th Grade Math at South Middle School
The Waukee South Middle School math students have been busy during the school year learning many new concepts. The students have had the opportunity to work with many new online resources to help guide their learning. Geometry students are preparing for an extension involving miniature golf that will involve making putts from different angles, designing two dimensional golf holes, and a three dimensional rendering of their miniature golf course. This project will help develop learning about transformations, angle relationships, area, ratios, proportions, and general problem solving skills. The Algebra 2 students are in the process of finishing up an activity involving designing and pricing a sticky note mural that will be on display soon at South.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills with the upcoming Iowa Assessments on February 12, 13, and 14. We will also have our final round of MAP testing in the spring. We are looking forward to seeing these results and are confident that the hard work that the students have been putting forth this year will be evident in both the Iowa Assessments and the MAP testing.
