WHS Love to Volunteer Fair

On February 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Waukee High School will host its 3rd Annual Love to Volunteer Fair. The fair will host up to 45 local non-profit organizations. Waukee high school students will be invited to visit with each attending non-profit and learn about possible volunteer and Silver Cord opportunities.

The fair is organized by the Waukee Silver Cord and School-to-Work Programs. The purpose of the Waukee Silver Cord Program is to instill within the students the importance of community service, and encourage students to be accountable for investing in their own education and in the community on a regular basis during their school years.  Silver cords are worn at the graduation ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of students who actively participated in community service during their time at Waukee.

“This has been a great event for our students over the last two years and our visitors have been able to gain many volunteers for their organizations,” Mindi Heitland, School-to-Work Coordinator, said.
