Celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday!
Walnut Hills had a wonderful week of celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday February 25 – March 1. On Monday, students shared Dr. Seuss’s gift of writing by receiving a Dr. Seuss pencil as a gift from the Reading Incentive Team. On Tuesday, students and staff were invited to stop, drop, and read their favorite book. On “Wacky Wednesday”, students and staff dressed up as their favorite book character. We saw everything from Harry Potter to the Cat in the Hat. Thursday was “Fox in Socks” day. Students and staff wore some of the goofiest socks you’ve every seen. Finally, on Friday, it was “Hats Off to Dr. Seuss” day. Students and staff were invited to wear a hat all day to show their appreciation for Dr. Seuss and all writers who have made reading fun for all.
A special thank you to the Strobel family who shared the beautiful wood cut out of Dr. Seuss that Grandpa Strobel made years ago for Grandma Strobel’s classroom. It is a very beautiful piece of art that attracted the attention of students, staff and families of Walnut Hills Elementary.
