South Middle Work on Chemistry Unit
In sixth grade science we have been actively engaged in our chemistry unit. Students’ learning targets for this unit include: using the periodic table to identify elements in given substances and applying the knowledge of kinetic energy in solids, liquids and gases. Investigations led students to heat and cool air, helped students see phase change in a two-cup system, and had students differentiate between dissolving and melting. They also used the periodic table to identify elements in substances in a mystery mixture based on their observations, experimenting and reactions. We will explore the water cycle and climate when we return from Spring Break.
