Girls Golf Win 2nd Consecutive State Title

Despite the rainy weather, Waukee Girls Golf won their second consecutive state title on May 29 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in the Class 5-A state girls’ golf tournament.

Kelsy Shay became the second golfer to bring home the individual medalist honors following Payton Minears state medalist honors last year. Freshman standout Paige Seiser placed fourth and earned a place in the record books as the highest placing freshman in the program’s history. Last year’s State Champion Payton Minear placed tenth and earned second team all tournament. Jasmine Wyzgowski, Brittany Best and Caitie Oder all had major contributions to the state championship run as well as an undefeated season. The Warriors were deep with talent this year with contributions from Hannah Dammen, Allie Oder, Ellen Johnson, Cheyanne Becker and Shane Oswalt just to name a few.

State Coed.

Jasmine Wyzgowski and Grant Campbell where state coed runners-up. The competition was played at the very challenging Bos Landen in Pella. Wyzgowski and Campbell(78) were one stroke back of champion Ankeny. Kelsy Shay and Aaron Denucci (83)medaled and placed seventh. Waukee placed both teams in the top ten.
