Walnut Hills Attendance Calls
As you know, Waukee Community School District uses the school notification system SchoolMessenger. SchoolMessenger is a fully-hosted notification platform used to connect parents, students and staff through voice, SMS text, email and social media.
Currently this system is used for building-level, negative balance and emergency messages. Starting Thursday, October 17 we will begin automated student attendance calling at Walnut Hills. The families of students whose absences have not been verified with a parent/guardian by 9:30 a.m. will receive an automated phone call placed to the primary (home) phone number listed in PowerSchool. Automated calls to the primary (home) phone number will start at 9:45 a.m.
The primary (home) phone number listed in PowerSchool does not need to be a landline to receive a notification. These automated calls can also be sent to mobile numbers.
We are hoping this change will serve as an additional safety measure to ensure all students are arriving at school as planned.
At this time, Walnut Hills Elementary School is the only building testing out this feature. To view frequently asked questions click here.
The phone message will say:
Hello, this is a message from the attendance office at Walnut Hills Elementary School, calling to inform you that your student <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>, is absent today <<date>>. Please contact the attendance office of your student’s school at, 515-987-2742, to verify the absence. If you have already contacted the school office you can disregard this message. If you would like to hear this message again, please press the star key. Thank you.
