Chess Club Invitation For All Third Through Fifth Grade Students!
All third through fifth grade students are invited to participate in Chess Club this spring!
When: All early out Wednesdays (STARTING MARCH 4), 8:00-8:35am
Where: Walnut Hills Media Center
There will be opportunities for students to learn how to play chess, so feel free to attend even if you have never played before!
- Positive Attitude
- Good Sportsmanship
- Respectful Behavior
- Desire to play chess
- Desire to meet new friends
- Willingness to share and challenge new opponents
- Helpfulness in cleaning up all boards/pieces at the end of each session
PTO has graciously offered to purchase 25 quality boards for our Walnut Hills Chess Club, so we have great plans of this club continuing year after year! Students are welcome to use the chess club boards, but may also choose to bring their own. If bringing a board from home, please make sure that it is labeled clearly with the student’s first and last names. You do not need to attend all sessions in order to participate. Feel free to drop in as you are available. However, once students arrive, they will be asked to remain in the media center until the 8:35 bell rings – with the exception of students needing to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.
The student coordinator of this event is Mikayla Gabrielson, 4th grader, who has taken over the club after a project by her older brother, Chad, last school year. Way to go, Gabrielsons! We are excited for you to share your passions with Walnut Hills!
