Parents of Future Timberline Students
It is hard to believe that we are at the point in the year that we need to begin discussing transitions for the 2015-16 school year. I want to use this communication to inform you about the progress that is taking place regarding Timberline School.
We have been working on hiring staff for the building since last fall. A variety of high quality educators have committed to being a part of Timberline. Educators from (6) different WCSD schools and a variety of other school districts will be part of the team. We will continue to work through the hiring process until all positions are filled.
As you may have noticed from LA Grant Parkway, the construction project has moved along well. While there is still work to do on site, great progress has been made on both the exterior and interior of the building. The layout is similar to that of South Middle School, but the interior design gives it a much different feel.
This spring we would like to provide an orientation night to help students make the transition to a new building. Ideally, we would like to host that session in Timberline School! Many stakeholders behind the scenes are working diligently to determine a date during which we can meet with students and parents in the building to provide information about registration, course information and allow a brief tour of parts of the building. We will continue to work toward the goal of hosting orientation night at Timberline, and will communicate that date and time as soon as we can. If the construction progress is delayed, we will utilize a different site. Either way, we will communicate with you as soon as we are able to make that decision.
In the meantime, know that a link to Timberline School information is now available on our district website. If you are interested in seeing pictures of the building you can access it here: https://www.waukeeschools.org/school/timberline-school/
We look forward to the upcoming school year and promise to work relentlessly to provide your child with a quality, memorable year.
