Brookview Elementary Hosts Leadership Day
Teachers from across the state attended Brookview Elementary’s Leadership Day on April 9. The day gave educators the opportunity to see first hand how the Leader in Me program works. Students had the opportunity to showcase their talents, teach attendees about the 7 Habits and share how they implement those habits into their lives.
In February, Brookview was been named the first Leader in Me Lighthouse School in the state of Iowa. The Leader in Me Lighthouse School title is awarded by Franklin Covey to honor the attainment of a well-rounded leadership model. Lighthouse Schools serve as models of leadership and mentors to other schools.
“We are honored to become a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. We have seen such amazing results from implementing The Leader in Me process at our school, such as students taking a more active role in their learning and in the goal setting process, students finding their individual voice and students developing 21st century life skills,” Terry Hurlburt, Brookview principal, said.
Since its official launch six years ago, nearly 2,000 schools worldwide have implemented The Leader in Me program. There are roughly 110 Lighthouse Schools around the world. Brookview’s vision is to build leaders of integrity and character who are motivated to make a positive impact on the world around them.
