Warriors Capture another State Golf Championship

Hoisting TrophyThe Waukee Boys Golfers are State Champions again. Waukee fought a very challenging Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids for two days to outlast three other CIML schools and won the 2015 Class 4A State Golf Championship.

The Warriors led after the first day of competition by four strokes over Dowling Catholic and six strokes over Linn Mar. Junior Andrew O’Brien brought in the low round on day one with an even par 70. Senior Tripp Kinney followed O’Brien with a 72 to tie Kinney for second place.

Waukee managed a score of 313 on Saturday for a two day total score of 616 and won over Ankeny Centennial by eight strokes, followed by Dowling Catholic and Valley. Tripp Kinney fired a 76. Andrew O’Brien carded a 78. Senior Colby Nicodemus added a 79, while Tom McLaughlin secured the championship with an 80.

The 2015 championship made it back-to-back championships for Waukee in boys golf and was the program’s fourth title in the last 6 years. Remarkably, Waukee has now won a combined 8 state championships in boys and girls golf since 2010!
