Waukee Wins DM Register All Sports Trophy for Second Straight Year


The Waukee High School Athletic Department has won the 2015-2016 Des Moines Register All Sports trophy for the large school division. The award recognizes the top athletic program in the state based on team finishes at state championship events in the 21 sanctioned interscholastic sports. Waukee accumulated 65.5 points to narrowly defeat West Des Moines Valley who scored 64 points. This marks the second consecutive year that Waukee has won the award.

The 2015-2016 season was highlighted by three state championship teams. Waukee won team championships in Boys Golf, Boys Swimming and Girls Track. A total of 12 Waukee sports placed in the top 8 at state, and earned valuable points that contributed to the win.

In addition, four non-sanctioned state championships were won by Waukee teams.  Competition Cheerleading, Dance team, Girls Track Pentathlon and Co-Ed Golf all placed state championship trophies in the high school trophy case. Waukee has won a combined 13 state championships during the past two years.
