Help us with our Goal: We’re Seeking Your Input!
One of our building goals this year is centered on increasing family involvement around the 7 Habits and the Leader in Me. As part of our goal we have put a plan in place to conduct an improved Leadership University, ongoing communication about the habits (Habits at Home), spotlight family usage of the habits, and to share strategies for developing family mission statements, goal setting, planning big rocks, etc.
Please help us to assess our work towards this goal through this short survey, which will be conducted once this fall, on order to set our baseline, and again in the spring. This data will help us to determine how effective we were with our goal and could also be used to develop future goals.
Thanks in advance for filling out our survey, via the following URL: http://bit.ly/2c0N76P
Notes From the Nurse
So happy to be back at school and see all the children’s smiling faces. I just want to give a few reminders about the big rocks in the Nurse’s office:
ILLNESS: Students with the following symptoms will be sent home: 1) Temperature of 100 or above (oral) or equivalent (normal temperature for 24 hours before returning to school without the use of fever reducing medications) 2) Vomiting (free from vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school) 3) Diarrhea (free from diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school) 4) Unexplained abdominal pain 5) Severe cold and/or cough 6) Unexplained skin eruptions or rash 7) Swelling, redness, tenderness, discharge of eyes (requires a doctor’s diagnosis and treatment, if needed, or until symptoms are gone) 8) Communicable disease (requires a doctor’s diagnosis and treatment, if needed, or until symptoms are gone) 9) Any health condition that in the nurse’s judgment is of concern for the child’s or other’s health
SNACKS/BIRTHDAY/HOLIDAY TREATS: Per the district policy no homemade treats, all items must be commercially prepared and have an intact label. Please read all labels carefully, manufacturers constantly change labels and always feel free to check with the nurse. Please remember rooms that are NUT FREE (posted in doorway) NO products containing peanuts and or tree nuts or manufactured in a plant with peanuts/tree nuts or states may contain nut products.
LICE: You can sign up for my blog on our school website which will alert you to any reported/confirmed cases of lice. This summer there was more news about lice being resistant to over the counter lice treatments. The district follows the Iowa Department of Health which follows The Center’s for Disease Control guidelines which does not recommend that students be sent home. While lice is a nuisance it is not a communicable disease. I am always willing to guide you with treating lice.
