Waukee High School Wins Second Straight Bank Iowa Challenge Cup

For the second consecutive year Waukee High School (WHS) has won the Bank Iowa Traveling Challenge Cup. Bank Iowa presented WHS with $2,000 to enhance the academic learning environment for its students after the homecoming coronation on September 22.

The Challenge Cup is an award designed to recognize Iowa High Schools for academic excellence in the classroom and outstanding achievement during state competition in athletics and the fine arts.  Waukee High School (WHS) scored 1580 points to outscore runner up Pleasant Valley who scored 1510 points.

Excellence in the 3A’s (Academics, Arts and Athletics) is not new to WHS.  Since Bank Iowa and the Iowa High School Sports Network (IHSSN) initiated the Challenge Cup competition in 2007, WHS has placed in the top five in the point standings every year.  Along with winning the cup the past two years, Waukee High School has placed second in the standings five times.

Congratulations students, coaches and faculty!
