Maple Grove Branch
A Note From Principal Tierney
Today we had the privilege of hosting 60 guests from schools all over Iowa as we hosted our 2nd Annual Leadership Day! It was an absolute success! “Leadership Day” events are held by elementary schools, such as ours, successfully implementing The Leader in Me process. It was an honor for staff and students alike for us to open our doors to the community for one day and let others see the amazing transformation that has taken place within our building. We had many students showcase their leadership skills, staff shared their successes, and the leadership philosophy driving the culture of our school was tangibly “seen and felt.” We are so proud of our wonderful school!

We would like to start the program again next fall and would like to expand it and include the STRIDE program for boys. Girls on the Run and STRIDE are non-profit, after-school development programs that encourage boys and girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. These programs are offered by the Walnut Creek YMCA in coordination with Maple Grove parents and staff. We have several parents who are willing to take on a leadership role but will need several additional parents to help implement this program. This is a 10-week program and meetings will take place at Maple Grove from 3:45-5:00 pm. To learn more about these programs, please contact Abby Smull email@example.com or click on the links below.
