A Message From Principal Tierney

Dear Families,

Shoot for the moon, if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.  Not all goals are accomplished.  Not every child gets a trophy.  And, that’s okay.  Our goal setting training teaches us to celebrate the milestones, not just the finish line.  We fell short of our $30,000 goal for Miles for Maple Grove, however, I’m celebrating the fact that we did make just over $29,000 and we will be able to purchase an incredible amount of technology and literacy materials for each grade level.  There is zero disappointment in that.  Truthfully, I believe the only disappointment may be from the perspective of the children, in that I will not be kissing a pig.  And again, from my perspective, there is zero reason to be disappointed in that.

A big THANK YOU goes out to our PTO, including our president Sarah Infante, who has spent countless hours preparing for our successful “fund” run.  I am so thankful to be the principal of Maple Grove Elementary.  Have a safe and enjoyable weekend!

We are just short of our goal, so Mrs. Tierney does not have to kiss a pig, but we are super excited about the amount that was brought in! That’s amazing! Thank you to everyone who donated and collected money! Second grade raised the most with $5,684.09. Mrs. VanMeter’s second grade class was the highest class with $2,589.00. Waukee Marching Invitational

The Waukee Marching Invitational (WMI) is on Saturday, October 14th at Waukee Stadium and we are in need of volunteers to help make it a success.  Parents, if your child plays an instrument, you are a member of the Waukee Band Parent Organization.  One of our purposes is “To lend all possible support, both moral and financial, to the instrumental program of the Waukee Community School”, this is at ALL levels.  WMI is our only major fundraiser this year and with the second high school on the horizon, it makes our fundraising that much more important.  Even though your child isn’t in the high school band yet, we need your help at WMI!   Your student doesn’t have to be in band for you to volunteer!  Please go to https://waukeebands.shutterfly.com/ under Volunteer Sign Ups, then the WMI link.   Thank you!
