A Message from Mrs. Johnson
Thank you SO much for attending Fall Conferences last week with your children! Teachers and students really enjoyed sharing updates and celebrating the learning that has taken place already this year. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive school community and hope that all students and families will enjoy time together this week as we break for Thanksgiving. THANK YOU for all you do for your child, our teachers, and our school. Strong relationships between school and home make Waukee Elementary such a great place to be!
Nicole Johnson, Principal
Please join us in the school library on Monday, November 27th, at 7pm to plan our winter classroom parties.
Thank you to everyone who donated snacks and drinks during conference week! A special thank you to R Taco for catering our meal on Thursday evening.

Note From Nurse Kim:
Please note the upcoming dates for annual hearing screenings for all elementary students (PK-5), Dec. 4, 5, 7, and 8. Students who “fail” the initial screening will receive a second screening, and perhaps additional testing by an audiologist on Dec. 18. Parents will receive a written report of test results only if abnormal, after the second stage testing, This is a screening process only, and does not identify all hearing or ear problems. If your child has had hearing or ear problems recently, feel free to send this information to the school nurse for the audiologist. Parents do have the opportunity to decline screening/testing, but they need to contact the school nurse prior to testing dates. If there are any questions about the hearing testing program in your school, please contact your school nurse or principal. Contact information for the nurse is below.
We love to have parent volunteers assist during hearing screening, as they are very helpful in getting children to the screening and back to their classrooms, and helping to keep waiting students quiet for optimal screening conditions. If you are interested in volunteering, we will need parents from around 9 AM – dismissal time each day of the screenings Dec. 4, 5, 7, and 8, and then for a partial day on Dec. 18. If you are able to help us out, please contact Nurse Kim at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call (515)987-5193, and ask for the nurse. Thank you!
