3rd Annual Family Leadership Night
Brookview’s 3rd Annual Family Leadership Night is Thursday, January 25th, 2018 from 5:00-6:30 PM.
As we prepare for Family Leadership Night we are in need of your help. We are planning to play READ-O (Bingo) for BOOKS as our Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw activity and we need new or gently used books for our READ-O prizes. As we play READ-O that evening, each student winner will be able to choose a donated book as their prize. If you have any books (in good condition) that your family is no longer reading or you’d be willing to purchase a new book or two to donate to a great cause, please send them to school by Friday, January 19th. There is a box in the BV office for all book donations.
Waukee Community Schools Foundation
The Waukee Community School Foundation supports the Waukee School District through classroom grants, professional development grants and scholarships for graduating seniors.
One event to raise money for the Waukee School Foundation is the annual auction and gala held February 24 at Noah’s Event Venue.
As part of the evening each school is asked to put together a basket for the silent auction. The theme for Brookview is “Outdoor Adventure”. Suggested donations include sleeping bags, tent, citronella candles, bug spray, headlamp, mini lanterns, cooler, gift cards to Bass Pro Shop or Scheels, etc. If you would like to make a donation to the Brookview basket, please have your donation to the office no later than Friday, January 19th. More information about the Waukee Foundation and Foundation Gala, can be found at: http://www.waukeeschoolsfoundation.org/

Bundle Up For Rcess
Students go outside for recess everyday unless the wind chill is 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below (page15 of WSD elementary handbook). Brookview uses multiple sources to verify wind chill temperature. Students are not allowed to stay indoors for recess without a medical excuse (page10 of WSC elementary handbook). Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Hats and gloves are important during the winter months. Boots and snow pants are needed when there is snow on the ground. On snowy days, students are required to stay on the blacktop unless they are wearing boots and snow pants. Please remember to label all of your child’s winter clothing.
Lost and Found
Brookview’s Lost and Found is located outside the music room. Please label all jackets, coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, water bottles and lunch boxes. Please check the Lost and Found area often. Twice a year, at Winter Break and Spring Break, anything not labeled is donated to a charitable organization.

PTO Committee Positions
PTO is in need of a chair for the Fine Arts committee and a co-chair for the yearbook for the 2018- 2019 school year. The Fine Arts position is a home-based position. They are in charge of coordinating with teachers to choose shows at the Civic Center and ordering tickets. Most of the work is done towards the end of the school year. The Yearbook chair is more time intensive but is ideally split between two chairs. Most of the work is done after Winter Break. Both positions still have time to shadow current chairs this year. If you have any interest or questions, please contact Maren (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Shannon (email@example.com).
To make every reasonable effort to provide a safe learning environment for our students, all volunteers must complete an online volunteer form. The form is found here online volunteer form. It takes about 5 minutes to complete and must be completed before you can volunteer in any of Waukee CSD’s buildings.
