WE Totem Tales 1/8
A Message from Mrs. Johnson
Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed some time with family and friends during the winter break and were able to relax and sharpen the saw together! It has been great to see everyone back at school this week as we kick off 2018 with new learning and new goals. The start of the new year is often a time for setting resolutions or goals. If you haven’t discussed this lately at home, please ask your child what his/her WIGs are currently at school. As a reminder, our WIGs are our Wildly Important Goals and we know that setting goals and tracking progress is key in order to be highly effective. Goals can also be set at home as a family or for individuals. Remember to write them clearly using the format: “from X to Y by When”.
As always, thank you for partnering with us in your child’s learning!
Nicole Johnson, Principal

Waukee Foundation Annual Dinner & Auction: A Night in Hollywood!
You’re invited to join us on February 24, 2018 for the Waukee Foundation’s Annual Dinner & Auction at Noah’s Event Center in West Des Moines. This energetic, informal night out is the perfect way to show your support for our growing school district. A wide variety of food and beverages will be served as you make your way through our display of silent auction items. Towards the end of the evening, an exciting live auction will be sure to create some fun memories!
Since 1996 the Foundation has contributed more than $500,000 to the WCSD by providing grants for innovative technology for classrooms, professional development and continuing education for our teachers and faculty, as well as donating 30% of it’s net proceeds to the Scholarship Fund to graduating seniors which has granted more than $300,000 in scholarships in the last five years alone. The Foundation’s primary fundraiser is the Annual Dinner & Auction. This year we need YOUR help to continue to support our rapidly growing school district!
