Ashworth Road Closure
Beginning Monday, March 12, Phase 2 of the Ashworth Road Project will close. Ashworth Road will be closed from the intersection of 88th Street to the intersection of 81st Street. This segment will be closed from March thru November 2018. Access at the intersections of 88th Street and 81st Street will remain open for as long as possible but both will also eventually be closed.
Phase 1 of the Ashworth Road Project from Jordan Creek Parkway to 81st Street will resume in the near future as weather allows and this will be a fully closed through August.
Waukee Community Closet
The Waukee Community Closet assists students and families in need within our school district by providing free high quality clothing (pre-worn as well as new). Currently, the Closet is in need of all sizes of children’s clothing, sizes 0-16. If you have children’s clothing to donate, please check out Facebook.com/waukeecommunitycloset for the hours of donation.

Bolt for Brookview Fun Run – New Date
Friday, April 27 is the new date for the the 2nd Annual Bolt for Brookview. Rain date is May 4. Brookview 5th graders have chosen a sports themed obstacle course! The collection period is March 26-April 13. Thank you to those that were able to register your child(ren) at conferences! Please see Mrs. Angelino’s email sent on March 6th for instructions to register to receive a free t-shirt. Look for a parent letter/instructions and envelopes that will be sent home with your kid(s) on March 23rd.
We are looking for sponsors and prize donations (game tickets, gift cards, etc. for students and teachers). If you know of a business or someone that would be interested in a sponsorship or provide an in-kind donation, please email us so we can send out our letters. Planning is underway so if you have any recommendations or questions, please email us at email@example.com.

Waukee Community School District (WCSD) uses SchoolMessenger for emergency notifications. Notifications include inclement weather, late starts or other emergency situations that may arise during or after school hours. SchoolMessenger works with PowerSchool, so there is no list for parents to sign up for, however, in order for parents to receive a text message, parents must complete the “opt-in” process.
Subscribe by texting: “Y”, “Yes,” or “Subscribe” to 67587. The cell phone numbers used must be in PowerSchool to receive a notification. Unsubscribe at any time by texting the key words: “Quit”, “Remove” or “Unsubscribe” to 67587.
When to Stay Home
Fever – Student must be fever free (without medication) for 24 hours (less than 100 degrees).
Vomit – Student must have not vomited for 24 hours before returning to school.
Diarrhea – Student must be free from diarrhea for 24 hours.
Pink Eye – Student can return to school after 1st dose of medication or as directed by your physician.
Lice – Student is not sent home the day of discovery. Allowed to return after initial treatment.
Students are not allowed to stay indoors for recess or not participate in P.E. without a medical excuse (page10 of WSC elementary handbook).

Lost and Found
Brookview’s Lost and Found is located outside the music room. Please label all jackets, coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, water bottles and lunch boxes. Please check the Lost and Found area often.
Classroom parties and birthday treats: No homemade treats or food items are permitted. All treats must be commercially prepared and packaged for distribution with the intact ingredient label. Krispy Kreme donuts are not an allergy safe option. Please refer to the Waukee Parent Handbook for more information on the Waukee Allergy Policy. The Waukee Nutrition Department has peanut free snacks for purchase. Please visit www.waukeeschools.org for more information.

PTO Yearbook Co-Chair
The PTO is looking for a volunteer to help serve as co-chair of the Yearbook for the 2018- 2019 school year. Most of the work for the year book is done January through March. In addition, we are looking for a co-VP role for the 2019-2020 school year. If interested in either position, please contact Maren (email@example.com) or Shannon (firstname.lastname@example.org).
To make every reasonable effort to provide a safe learning environment for our students, all volunteers must complete an online volunteer form. The form is found here online volunteer form. It takes about 5 minutes to complete and must be completed before you can volunteer in any of Waukee CSD’s buildings.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to earn cash for Brookview. Each Box Top is worth 10¢! Look for the pink Box Top on hundreds of products. Just clip and send to school. You can send them to school in any increments. Groups of 50, can be grouped together and placed in a baggie.
