Eason Flier 5/4/18

  • On Wednesday, May 23, all fifth grade students in the district will be participating in a 5th Grade Track and Field Day. Rain date for this event is Thursday, May 24.   This event will be held at the Waukee High School Track.   Because of increasing numbers, students are divided into two sessions.  Eason will participate in the afternoon session from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with Brookview, Maple Grove and Woodland Hills 5thgraders.  Parents are welcome to attend the track and field day. However, space is limited and parents will need to stay in the bleachers, as the track area will be congested with over 500 fifth graders.  Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and dress appropriately according to the weather.  Tennis shoes are a must.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!
  • Kindergarten through Fourth Grade Field Day is right around the corner!  The necessary preparations are being made to make it fun and exciting for everyone involved.  Field Day will take place on Wednesday, May 30 with a rain date scheduled for Thursday, May 31.  Field Day will be held across the street from our school at the Walnut Creek Little League fields. The day will be split into two sections, morning and afternoon.  The morning section will run from 9:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and will include kindergarten and first grade students.  The afternoon section will run from 1:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. and will include 2nd – 4th grade students. Field Day will be filled with exciting activities and will be the exclamation point to an outstanding year at Eason Elementary!Students are asked to bring a water bottle.  Please dress your child appropriately for the weather along with tennis shoes.  Parents – make sure you apply sunscreen to your KDG-1stgraders before sending them to school.  Second – 4th graders may bring their own sunscreen with them.  If you have any questions you may contact Mrs. Moon at 987-5200 ext. 2306 or mmoon@waukeeschools.org.

Eason teachers & administrators are beginning to look at class lists for next fall.  If you have moved out of the Eason boundaries and will be attending a different Waukee school, OR if your family is moving out of the Waukee area, please notify Mrs. Harlan in the Eason office (mharlan@waukeeschools.org) so she can make the changes on next year’s enrollment data.  THANK YOU!

As the school year comes to a close, please be sure your child’s lunch account is paid in full.  Any money left in the account at the end of the year will be carried over to the next school year.  Please keep this in mind when submitting lunch/breakfast payments for the remainder of the year.  All negative balances MUST be paid before the last day of school.  If you have questions concerning your child’s lunch account, please contact Kris Hulsing at 987-5200 ext. 5120.

Eason students:  Do you love having water fights with your friends? How about having one with Mr. Prohaska, Mrs. Topp or an Eason teacher? Well, here’s your chance!  On  Thursday, May 24th, the Eason P.T.O. will be hosting a “Super Soak Mr. Prohaska” fundraiser.

For just $5.00 for one blast, $8.00 for two blasts, or $10 for three blasts you can take aim at Mr. Prohaska or other surprise Eason personalities! (Super-Soakers are provided.) Information will be coming out via e-mail blast, and all money will be collected using RevTrack.   Cash will NOT be accepted.  Blasts must be purchased on Rev Track.  If you have questions you can contact Lelahni Plasier at lelahni@gmail.com. The rain date will be on Friday, May 25.

If you would like to volunteer for this event please plan on being there from 1:15 -: 3:15.  No need to sign up. (This is the best volunteering job and you may get wet!)

Just like parents, Drew’s Crew for Kids is busy finalizing our summer plans and we need your help.  We will be supporting students in summer sports camps and clinics, getting students ready for summer and fall music programs, participating in the summer lunch Picnic & Play program and offering Story Time in the Parks.  To help us serve Waukee Community School District children through our summer programming, we need some specific supplies.  Between May 14 and May 18 we will be collecting:

  • 24-count boxes of Crayons
  • New drawstring athletic backpack bags
  • New water bottles (preference is green Gatorade brand)
  • New or gently used books
  • New or used music stands

Please drop your donation at any Waukee elementary throughout the week of May 14 – 18th.  There will be boxes in which to place your donations near every office.  Special thanks to the local real estate company, Space Simply, and owner Cy Phillips for providing a monetary match for all donated items.  Space Simply will donate $10 for each item collected up to $2,500!  Together your donated items have twice the impact for Waukee children!

We cordially invite families and staff to visit our Waukee APEX Showcase on Monday, May 7 from 6-8 PM at the Waukee Innovation and Learning Center. Waukee APEX student associates teamed with the Science Center of Iowa to plan interactive displays perfect for all ages to share their business project work from the semester in a fun way. We will also have colleges attending from across the state and local businesses and clubs setting up information tables that evening. A truly interactive opportunity to learn more about STEM, meet our partners and gather college and career information. This night is free and open to the public. We hope you will join us!
