Community Night at Walnut Hills Elementary
Walnut Hills is very excited to have a special guest speaker, Craig Scott, at our January 4th assembly! We are very thankful for our PTO and all of the parents who have supported the PTO to make great opportunities like this possible for our students! In connection with our district wide theme “Give Love” and The Leader in Me, Mr. Scott will visit to speak to the students about his initiative Rachel’s Challenge. Rachel’s Challengepromotes a positive school culture with a message of kindness, compassion, and respect. We are excited for the inspiration this will provide our students as they continue to learn to proactively lead themselves and others in a positive way!
In addition to speaking at our assembly, Walnut Hills will also be hosting a Community Night. We encourage all parents and adults in the community to come and listen to his story. He will share in detail what he experienced the day of the Columbine tragedy, and how he overcame that event to see the positive in even the worst situations. This presentation is directed toward an adult audience and is different than the elementary age appropriate presentation the students will hear at the assembly. The message he shares through Rachel’s Challenge is motivating, inspiring, and encourages everyone to Give Love! If you would like to learn more about Rachel’s Challenge and its impact in elementary schools across the country, please view this video: http://rachelschallenge.org/programs/elementary. We look forward to seeing you at the Community Night on January 4th at 6:30pm!
