Waukee Student Named Super Bowl Kid Reporter

One of our fifth graders is smiling from ear to ear after learning he’s heading to Super Bowl LVII to serve as the kid reporter.

Miles Waage, a Radiant Elementary student, is an avid collector of football cards. According to Panini Football cards, he got a card in one of his packs inviting him to enter a video content to become the kid Super Bowl reporter. He knew it was a Hail Mary, but his family decided to go for it! In his video, he showed off his football-themed room, his trading cards, and even his favorite football celebration dance.

Later, he got a video call from NFL great Trent Dilfer. Trent told Miles he won the contest after being randomly selected as a finalist from more than 135,000 entries. When Miles found out the news, his favorite team, the Chiefs, had just won an edge-of-your-seat game to secure a spot in the Super Bowl.

As the kid reporter, Miles will spend the whole week leading up to the Super Bowl participating in activities in Arizona. His trip includes interviewing players from both the Chiefs and the Eagles during the NFL Opening Media Night, attending the Merlin Olsen Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon, and, of course, taking in the Super Bowl game on Sunday, February 12. Miles says he’s probably most excited about interviewing Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Congratulations, Miles! We’ll be watching for you.
