Three New Assistant Principals Selected for the 2023-24 School Year


We are excited to welcome three new assistant principals for the 2023-24 school year — pending board approval. After reviewing over 70 applicants, providing comprehensive screenings to more than a dozen candidates, and interviewing half a dozen, we are excited to share the professionals selected for three elementary assistant principal positions.

New Waukee CSD Assistant Principals

Maple Grove and Woodland Hills: Jordyn Dunlay
Jordyn is a classroom teacher who’s been with our District since 2017.  She has acted as the point person for her building’s School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) team and led in multiple ways as a math curriculum leader, Lighthouse team member, and District Equity Team representative. Jordyn is a proud Waukee graduate.

Radiant and Sugar Creek: Meghan Price
Meghan is a special education teacher who began her career in Saydel Schools but has been teaching in our District since 2019. She served as a member of SIAC, developed the master schedule, led professional development, and organized Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) for her building. Meghan is a Waukee graduate and went through our Intro to Education program while in high school.

Brookview: Derek Barnhouse 
Derek has taught in two Waukee buildings in two different grade levels since beginning at Waukee CSD in 2019. He has led through his Building Leadership team, Culture Committee, and as a Math Curriculum Team member. Derek helped create the master schedule for his school and has facilitated professional development sessions.
