Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds Visits with Brookview 4th Graders
Fourth graders at Brookview Elementary School received a special visit from Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds. She talked to students about her position and how it has enabled her to travel to Germany, China, South Korea and Vietnam. Reynolds also talked about what it means to be a good leader and how she continues to use the seven habits in her daily work.
Fourth graders at Brookview have been participating in the Leader in Me program which was inspired by the book The 7 Habits of Happy Kids, by Sean Covey. The seven habits include: Be Proactive; Begin with the End in Mind; Put First Things First; Think Win-Win; Seek First to Understand, Then be Understood; Synergize and Sharpen the Saw. The program teaches that everyone is a leader in his or her own way and that children possess leadership skills, but need time to learn about how to be an effective leader and must be taught how to collaborate with other students and adults.
Students took turns asking Reynolds questions and explaining what each of the seven habits mean.
