Through a collaboration between education, business, and the community, Waukee Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX) develops highly skilled, adaptable, global innovators and leaders. Waukee APEX draws on the expertise of business partners to bring real-world experience to high school students. Through passion-based learning, authentic projects, and experiences, students add value to business partners while exploring career possibilities identified by economic trends within our metro area and state.

Waukee Innovation & Learning Center (WILC)
The Waukee Innovation and Learning Center (WILC) is a hub for creativity and innovation for Waukee Community School District students and surrounding businesses. Through a revolutionary collaboration, students, educators, and business partners unite in one building to create professional work. The WILC is also a community venue for conferences and events. Economic Sectors of Learning
APEX offers many courses within five economic sectors. These are catered to career trends within Waukee and Iowa. The sectors include:
- Financial and Insurance: This sector is catered to students who have a passion for applying mathematical and business models to finance and insurance.
- Business, Technology, & Communication: This sector is for students who want to utilize technology to solve business problems and design products.
- Engineering: This sector is for students who enjoy real world design projects that shape the environment for future generations.
- Human Services: This sector is for students who want to enter the human services career field through health, wellness, and education.
- Bioscience & Value Added Agriculture: This sector is for students with a passion for biological knowledge and agricultural production.
Courses Offered
Below are the courses offered at APEX in each of the sectors. Each course takes up two blocks per day and last a semester. The APEX courses are offered to Waukee CSD juniors and seniors.
