PTO Meeting: Monday, September 10

The PTO is looking forward to a great 2018 – 2019 school year. Our first meeting will be held on Monday, September 10 at 6:30 pm in the Library. You will learn what our PTO does and how you can get involved in the various committees if you would like. You are welcome to come to one or all of the PTO meetings. It’s a great chance to get to know your school principal better, meet other parents, and get involved with your school. We hope you can join us!

Family Culture Survey

We are planning to display flags in the building from the countries that represent your family’s cultural background. Thank you for helping us collect this information. We are excited to celebrate our students and families!

Waukee Community School District (WCSD) uses SchoolMessenger for emergency notifications.  Notifications include inclement weather, late starts or other emergency situations that may arise during or after school hours. SchoolMessenger works with PowerSchool — in order for parents to receive a text message, parents must subscribe to “opt-in” for the updates.

Subscribe by texting: “Y”, “Yes,” or  “Subscribe” to 67587. The cell phone numbers subscribing must be in PowerSchool to receive a notification. Unsubscribe at any time by texting the key words: “Quit”, “Remove” or “Unsubscribe” to 67587.

Raptor Visitor System

The Waukee Community School District uses a visitor management system called Raptor. This system will allow each school building to screen all visitors entering the building against sexual offender registries in all 50 states and establish a consistent sign-in process across the district.

All visitors must report to the main office upon arrival to the school. We will scan a driver’s license (or other government issued ID) and print a visitor badge. The visitor must also sign out of the office when they leave the building. The ONLY information kept in the screener is: first name, last name, and date of birth. Thank you for your help!

Volunteering/Visiting Woodland Hills

We welcome visitors and volunteers at Woodland Hills! Please feel free to join your child for lunch or volunteer any time except for the first two weeks of the school year.

To make every reasonable effort to provide a safe learning environment for our students, all prospective volunteers must complete an online volunteer form.  The form is found here online volunteer form.  It takes about 5 minutes to complete and must be completed before you can volunteer in any of WCSD’s buildings.

A call/note to the teacher is appreciated so that schedules may be coordinated. Please do not expect a conference with your child’s teacher when class is in session. We discourage student’s siblings from visiting school with parents, as their presence becomes a distraction to learning.
