2021 Rose Parade Canceled

With reluctance and tremendous disappointment, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association announced that, in accordance with Governor Newsom’s Phase IV re-opening schedule, and after thoughtful consideration of the restrictions and guidelines in place as a result of COVID-19, they are unable to host the 2021 Rose Parade.

While we are incredibly disappointed that this had to happen, we know the committee spent a great deal of time and effort attempting to find a way to hold the parade while simultaneously keeping the parade participants and spectators safe. 2021 marks only the second time in the 132 year history of the parade that it has ever been canceled, the other being in 1942 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Here’s what this means for the Waukee Community School District:

  • We have been officially invited back to march in the 2022 Rose Parade!
  • We will march a combined band of Waukee High School and Northwest High School students.
  • We are currently working through issues with the district offices to try and allow seniors graduating from the program in 2021 to march with us in the 2022 Rose Parade.
  • In the coming weeks, you will receive information from Bob Rogers Travel and the Waukee Band Parents regarding payment for the 2022 Rose Parade and, as necessary, refunds for people who will no longer be traveling with us.
