Curbside Library Book Pickup and Return Options


Librarians throughout the Waukee School District are offering curbside pickup for all students during the virtual learning period (running through 12/11). This service is offered for ALL online learners throughout the year. Look for details/hours for your school below.

Brookview Elementary 

  • An email is sent when books are ready for pickup.
  • Pickup is every Monday between 1:00-3:00 PM.

Eason Elementary

  • An email is sent when books are ready for pickup.
  • Pickup is Monday-Friday between 9:00-3:00 PM.
    • Go to Eason’s library catalog
    • Log in
    • Search catalog and place holds
    • You will receive an email when books are ready
    • Return books to the book drop box in the same location, as needed.

Grant Ragan Elementary

  • New book pickup is every Friday from 2:45-3:25 PM.
  • Old book drop off is every Monday from 2:45-3:15 PM.
  • Contact Mrs. Elliot via email if alternate arrangements need to be made.
    • Log in to Destiny Discover
    • Search for books and place hold(s)
    • You will receive a confirmation email from Mrs. Elliott when books are ready
    • Pickup and drop off books on designated days in the bus lane on the north side of Grant Ragan

Maple Grove Elementary

  • An email will be sent to the student when their book is ready for pickup.
  • Books should be picked up between 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
    • Access the library catalog from our Canvas page.
    • Log in using Google
    • Place hold(s)
    • After receiving an email for pickup, the books will be located on the blue cart between the seats of main doors with the students name attached.

Radiant Elementary

Shuler Elementary

  • Pickup and drop off every Monday from 1:00-3:00
  • Currently curbside pickup is only available for students enrolled in semester long online learning.
  • Please contact Ms. Taylor to make alternate arrangements.
    • Log in to Destiny Discover
    • Search for books and place hold(s)
    • Books will be labeled with student’s name and place in Shuler’s front entryway for pickup between 1:00-3:00 each Monday
    • Return books to blue bin located in front entryway.

Walnut Hills Elementary

  • Pickup and drop off every Thursday from 2:30-3:15 PM.
    • Log in to Destiny Discover
    • Search for books and place hold(s)
    • You will receive a confirmation email from Ms. Emerick Thursday morning by 10:00 AM
    • Pickup and drop off books using the bus loop.

Waukee Elementary

  • Pickup and drop off every Tuesday from 2:30-2:45
    • See the tutorial on the home page of Canvas under “Resources.”

Woodland Hills Elementary

  • Pickup Monday-Friday from 9:00-3:15
  • WD front entrance between the double doors
  • Books will be in a bag with the student’s name
  • Look for the library cart and baskets designated for pickups and drop offs.
    • Online students and parents need to contact Mrs. Poppens.
    • Or go Canvas (library homepage) and fill out the form to sign up for curbside library services
    • An email will be sent with instructions on how to use Destiny Discover
    • Go to Destiny Discover in Canvas to place books on hold
    • Wait for a confirmation email that says books are ready to be picked up
    • Place new holds in Destiny Discover when ready to get new books
    • Please allow one school day for books to be ready and look for an email confirming they are ready
    • Books can be out for three weeks at a time

South Middle School

  • Books will be labeled with student names and placed on the table inside the entryway for pickup between 7:00-3:30 every Monday-Friday.
    • Request books by completing the book request form on our library homepage.
    • Requests will be fulfilled same-day or next day and followed up with email confirmation and detailed instructions.
    • Books will be labeled with student names and placed on the table inside the entryway at SMS.
    • Returns may be place in the basket in the entryway.

Waukee Middle School

  • Books will be labeled with the student names and placed no the shelf inside the entryway for pickup between the hours of 7:00-3:330 every Monday-Friday.
    • Request books by completing the book request form on our library homepage.
    • Requests will be fulfilled same-day or next day and followed up with email confirmation and detailed instruction.
    • Books will be labeled with student names and place on the shelf inside the entryway at WMS.
    • Returns may be placed in the. library bin in the entryway.

Prairieview School

  • After receiving an email, students can pickup and return books between 9:00-3:00, Monday-Friday.
    • Students may place book(s) on hold using Destiny Discover
    • Once the student receives a confirmation email, they may come pickup their books
    • There is a table set up between the two main glass doors. The student’s name will be on the books.

Timberline School

  • After receiving an email, students may pickup and return books between 9:00-3:00, Monday-Friday.
    • Students may place book(s) on hold using Destiny Discover
    • Once the student receives a confirmation email, they may come pickup their books
    • There is a table set up between the two main glass doors. The student’s name will be on the books.

Waukee High School

  • Students can return books during school hours each day.
  • New books will be available during school hours each Tuesday and Thursday.
    • Put a book on hold using your library account or email Mrs. O’Connor with the book you want
    • You’ll receive a confirmation email from Mrs. O’Connor once the book is ready to be picked up.
    • Books will be picked up (and returned) outside the Student Services office doors (in the space between the set of glass doors, no need to enter the office or the building).
