Waukee School District Purchases Land, Future Site of Two Schools and Natatorium

As a part of the Waukee Community School’s 10-year facility plan, we are excited to announce the land purchase of 80 acres near Northwest High School. This 80 acre parcel will be the home to:

District Natatorium – opening in 2023.
8-9 Building (WCSD’s 5th middle-level building) that will serve students in grades 6-7 initially – opening in 2023.
6-7 Building (WCSD’s 6th middle-level building) – opening in 2025.

The site is located along future NW Douglas Parkway, just northwest of Waukee Northwest High School.

“This is an exciting time for the Waukee community and our school district,” says Kirk Johnson, COO of Waukee CSD. “There is significant population growth on the northwest side of the city and these facilities will serve thousands of students in years to come. We hope it’s a pillar in the city’s expansion.”

The names of the new schools have yet to be announced, but will join South Middle School and Waukee Middle School (6-7 grades), Prairieview and Timberline (8-9 grades).

The site will also feature a natatorium, a track and field complex and a baseball and softball complex.

Drone video and a final concept map are available for viewing.
