Egg Drop Day at Timberline

It’s a big week for 9th grade physics students at Timberline School.

Students have spent weeks studying velocity, acceleration, momentum and energy transfer. At the end of their studies, it’s time to test it out with their egg drop project.

The goal is to create a case/box/protection surface, designed to protect an egg that is being dropped from the second floor of their school.

There are three requirements for each project.

• The case must withstand a drop off the second floor of Timberline.
• The egg must be able to put into and taken out of the case in 20 seconds or less.
• All designs must be unique to your group.

After drop day, students are tasked with creating a one page rationale for why the picked their egg drop design and how their studies impacted their decisions.
