Waukee CSD Breaks Ground on New Natatorium

It’s a historic week for the Waukee Community School District. The district broke ground on their new natatorium, scheduled to open in 2024. The aquatic facility will be home to both the Waukee and Waukee Northwest High School swim teams.

Representing the school district at the groundbreaking event were School Board members, Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck and Chief Operations Officer Kirk Johnson. Coaches Shelley Twigg and Dan Briggs along with several members of the swim team were also in attendance. Henkel Construction will be the project manager of the site.

“This gives us the chance to have even more kids involved in our swim program and will hopefully create other opportunities with curricular events,” says Waukee CSD Superintendent Dr. Brad Buck. “We are hoping this gets constant use and provides great support for our students, families and community.”

“Getting the shovels in the ground, I feel even more excited than I was before about the future of Waukee Swimming,” adds Twigg.
