Winter Sports Season Recap

Waukee CSD student athletes have wrapped up a great winter season! We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments. Below are highlights from each varsity sports season:


Waukee Boys Basketball were regular season CIML conference champions with a 13-3 record. Mason Costello was named to the first-team all-state. Northwest placed fifth in the conference, and NWHS senior Grant Tigges was named second-team all-state.

Waukee Girls Basketball made it all the way to the semifinals in the state tournament. Emilie Sorensen was named second-team all-state, and Kirsten Hauck was named third-team all-state.


The combined Waukee/Northwest Girls Bowling team was named CIML conference champions and placed third at state.

The boys team earned second place at the CIML conference tournament. Reid Jackson of NWHS placed third in the individual state tournament. Cole Darling and Owen Evans were both named first-team all-state.


Northwest Varsity Dance team placed fifth in pom, seventh in game day, and 15th in jazz at the UDA National Dance Team Championship. Waukee Varsity Dance Team placed 11th in jazz, 12th in pom, and 16th in hip hop.

At the ISDTA State Championships, the NWHS dance team brought home the top spot in lyrical, and WHS student Leah Loeffelholz was named the solo division champion.


In its first season, the Northwest eSports team advanced to the state semifinals before losing to the eventual state champion. Waukee eSports placed third in the state tournament.


In the last year as a combined team, Waukee/Northwest Boys Swimming won the district meet and placed second at state. Dylan Alt and Klein Brock were named to the Des Moines Register’s All-Iowa swimming and diving team.


Raccoon River Girls Wrestling finished the regular season 32-1 and tied for second overall at state. 

Northwest Boys Wrestling won a district title and had 11 wrestlers qualify for state. Carter Freeman and Koufax Christensen both placed second in their weight classes. Waukee Boys Wrestling had six wrestlers qualify for state.
