Judi Roland Named New WHS Principal

Judi PhotoWaukee CSD is pleased to announce Judi Roland has been named the new Waukee High School principal.

“I am honored to be selected as Waukee High School’s next principal. This community’s unwavering support will continue to enable us to create an environment where students can explore their passions with guidance from some of the most talented and dynamic educators in the field,” Roland said.

Roland has been a leader at WHS for over two decades — serving first as assistant principal/dean of students before assuming the role of associate principal in 2015. She was named the 2024 Fine Arts Administrator of the Year by the School Administrators of Iowa and Iowa Alliance for Arts Education for her leadership in developing and advocating for the arts. Roland also helped lead WHS to its designation as an Apple Distinguished School last fall.

Roland earned her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree and Specialist in Educational Administration degree from Drake University.

“During her 21 years at Waukee High School, Judi has demonstrated dedication, leadership, and genuine care to the staff, students, and families of WHS and our community as a whole,” said Terry Hurlburt, Waukee CSD associate superintendent. “I can think of no one better to lead Waukee High School into the future, and I am excited to see her in her new role.”
