School Board Election Notice
The regular school election will be held on September 10, 2013. School board elections are now held every odd numbered year in Iowa. The school secretary is the filing officer for candidate nomination papers in school elections, but the county auditor’s office is available as a resource to help you if you have questions during this process.
The filing period for school election candidates will begin on Monday, July 8 and end on Thursday, August 1 at 5 p.m. Nomination papers that have been accepted for filing by must be delivered to the county auditor on Friday, August 2 by 5 p.m. The auditor cannot accept nomination papers earlier than August 2 because they are required to be available for public inspection at the school office during the filing period. Based on the district’s voter count, candidates will need 50 signatures.
Look for a follow-up article in the June/July district bulletin with information on where and when nomination papers may be picked up. There are four (4) board positions open for election this year.
