Shuler 4th Grade Studies Civil Rights
Fourth Graders are Shuler Elementary are in the middle of our big Social Studies Culture Unit. Right now, the students are learning about the Civil Rights movement and the causes and effects that has had on our culture. They will also be performing a Readers Theater called Sitting in for Freedom. This play is about the Greensboro Sit-In that took place in 1960 in North Carolina. Four college students sat down at a lunch counter and refused to leave until they were served. This movement was the start of many sit-ins as well as an important event during the Civil Rights Movement.
