Tulip Visits Walnut Hills Elementary
The fourth graders at Walnut Hills Elementary are starting a storytelling unit. To kick the unit off, Tulip and Friends came to work with the students on storytelling techniques. Tulip, whose real name is Barb Funke, taught students the importance of using eye contact, gesturing and varying their voices through pitch, volume and timing. Tulip also shared with the students the many benefits of storytelling which include: improving communication skills, listening skills, and sequential memory; stimulating creative imagination, enhancing writing abilities, and increasing public speaking skills. The students thoroughly enjoyed working with Tulip and are looking forward to telling their own stories.
